October 1, 2010
October is Respect Life month. During this month, the Respect Life group helps to educate everyone on what it means to be pro life. The Catholic Church teaches us to respect all life from natural conception to natural death. In other words, the church is opposed to abortion, capital punishment, assisted suicide, euthanasia and embryonic stem cell research. It means that all LIFE is precious.
The Respect Life group is sponsoring several activities to help spread the Pro Life message: first, the annual Baby Bank Campaign that helps to raise awareness for the unborn and raise funds for the St. Ignatius Gabriel Project and the Office of Pro Life Activities. Each class will have a baby bank. Please bring in loose change during the month of October and help fill your class’s bank. Second, we will be making cards for nursing home patients, and third, we will be selling Hope bags filled with water and food for the homeless.
You are also invited to a free showing of the Dr. Seuss favorite, Horton Hears a Who on Saturday, October 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the Annex. This event is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and the Respect life group. There will be hot dogs, popcorn and desserts for purchase in support of our Gabriel Project.
