Your help is needed to complete our Church Pew Restoration Project!
As you may have noticed, many of our church pews are in dire need of repair. We have consulted with several wood working professionals to determine the scope and cost required to successfully complete a project of this magnitude. After careful consideration, we have decided to save the expense of hiring
professionals and complete the work ourselves!
Fortunately, Fr. Mike has graciously offered to share his wood working talents and will oversee the entire project from start to finish! Of course, he cannot do it alone, which is why we are seeking help from our stewardship-based faith community. That’s right! With your help, we will repair & restore all 86 pews in the main body of the church, saving thousands of dollars for the parish! If all goes well, we may consider restoring the pews in the Mother’s Chapel and Choir Section sometime in the near future.
Helpful Information About the Project
The project will begin June 14, 2010 and will take 6 weeks to complete.
The project will involve sanding with steel wool, washing, re-staining and sealing a total of 86 church pews.
A water-based polyurethane seal will be used to minimize excess odors.
All work will be done inside the church where there will be adequate lighting and a cool air conditioned work setting. We will complete one section at a time to minimize the disruption to our faith community.
All tools, equipment and supplies will be provided.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring a pair of work gloves and wear appropriate clothing for this type of project.
No experience is necessary - all committed, able-bodied adults and teens are invited to sign-up!
