It is school policy that ALL visitors to the school must sign in at the front office - no exceptions. All
visitors must come into the school building through the front entrance!
School Check IN System
With the start of the 2008-2009 school year St. Ignatius, Martyr, Catholic School has taken the additional step to increase security at our school through the purchase of a new computer system called "School Check IN" designed to help ensure that no unauthorized person enters one our school. Located at the front desk is a comprehensive visitor check-in and check-out system. This new system runs a background check on each visitor every time he or she visits. Each visitor must check in and out when in the school, regardless of the time of day. Should the system flag an individual for any reason, the system will automatically and privately alert the front office staff and the school's administrators. Those administrators will then talk to the individual and work through any issue.
During the day, you will no longer sign in and out on a paper form at the front desk each time you come to school to volunteer, attend an event or meet with a teacher. Instead, you will bring your driver's license with you and check in by feeding it through a scanner. The scanner will "read" the driver's license, run a quick background check and print out a temporary, stick-on visitor/volunteer badge that displays your photograph and name as well as the date, time and purpose of your visit.
As you leave the building, you return to the school's check-in station, click on the "visitors" icon, locate your name and click on "check out." This will check you out of the system and indicate you are leaving the school grounds.
All visitors and volunteers must wear their name badges in plain sight at all times while on school grounds or at school-related events or activities. Visitors will not, however, be asked to check in and out using this system during large evening PTO meetings, school plays, programs, athletic events, etc.
