Style Guide Update:
School Name Abbreviations
The St. I Development Committee is currently at work creating an official school style guide due for publication in August, 2011. One of the areas addressed in the book will be consistency in school abbreviation and branding. As we try to market and increase our presence throughout our school community, Austin, and the diocese, please help us eliminate brand confusion and misidentification by adhering to the following rule:
When creating print materials (correspondence, newsletters, flyers, posters, banners) video/ web-based media, or identifying a school organization, the only acceptable abbreviations for St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic School are as follows:
St. Ignatius Martyr
The term Bobcat can be used to describe a student, or in conjunction with an organization, team or event. For example: Bobcat John Smith, the Bobcat Booster Club or Bobcat Basketball, etc.
Bobcats is used to describe our sports teams, the student populace, the entire school community, alumni, and/or fans of our sports teams.
Bobcat Nation is used to describe the student populace, the entire school community, alumni, and/or fans of our sports teams.
Abbreviations such as SI, SIM, SIMCS, SIB, St. Iggy’s, etc. are no longer acceptable.
Thank you for your cooperation and look for the St. I Style Book when school begins in August.
